Our Level 3 trained Forest School Practitioners...
- are suitable, highly skilled and passionate with a broad range of specialist qualifications and experience.
- provide opportunities for hands on learning through cross-curricular links across all subjects.
- facilitate the development of children's physical and mental health. Forest school provides the opportunity for children to achieve outside of the classroom, increasing their self belief, confidence, learning capacity, enthusiasm, communication and problem-solving skills and emotional well-being. These benefits feed back into the classroom environment.
- ensure children take responsibility for the natural environment and become responsible citizens.
- support children to identify risks and increase their confidence in managing risks. We encourage the children to make sensible and informed decisions about how to deal with unfamiliar situations.
- stimulate investigation, curiosity and creative minds through well-planned sessions that either: follow the Forest School ethos of being child-led, intertwining their interests within the activities; or are Outdoor Learning sessions that have a focused outcome linking with the National Curriculum learning objectives.
- develop team working skills and encourage children to become independent in an outdoor environment.
Our Practitioners work with class teachers to deliver Outdoor Learning that enrich the National Curriculum and links to each year group’s topic. Sessions are appropriately challenging, support learning objectives, and address barriers to learning. We also run child-led Forest School sessions, adapting to children's interests, fostering a love for learning through play and discovery.
Our Practitioners conduct thorough site and session risk assessments before each session and ensure children understand how to stay safe. Sessions run in all weather conditions, except in extreme high winds, with children dressed appropriately so they can fully engage in every activity. |
