Forest School training
We offer two levels of training our Level 2 and 3 courses. Please see further details below. If you are interested in the Level 1 or a taster session please contact us directly.
Level 3- Certificate in Leading Forest School
Course Content Summary:
This Forest School Leader training is designed for those who would like to set up and run a Forest School programmes.
There are five Units of Study at Level 3:
Supporting Learning, Play and Development in the Outdoors
Observation and Evaluation of Outdoor Learning
Sustainable Use of Natural Resources
Teach Outdoor Practical Skills
Forest School Leader
On this course you will:
Attend training days which consist of both theory and practical tasks.
Run a Forest School Programme in your chosen setting.
Complete a work-based assessment.
Complete a portfolio for assessment.
There is a one day course completion workshop about three quarters of the way through the course. In addition to the course dates, the lead tutor is available during the course for tutorial help by telephone or email.
Entry Qualifications Required:
Level 2 Qualification or appropriate experience in education, youth work, childcare etc.
Established link with a proposed client group and a potential Forest School Site.
19 years or over at the start of the course.
OR Level 2 Qualification in Forest School, Countryside, Woodland Management etc. At least two years experience with client groups. Established link with a proposed client group and a potential Forest School Site.
You are strongly advised to achieve a suitable First Aid Qualification and hold a current DBS certificate prior to starting your own FS practice, however, this is the responsibility of the individual setting.

lEVEL 2 - ASSISTING FOREST SCHOOL
Course Content Summary
This course covers four Units of Study at Level 2 and looks in more depth at practical skills, using the woodland as a sustainable resource and the theoretical side of planning for learning and play at Forest School.
This course is designed for those wanting to assist a Level 3 Forest School Leader:
Supporting Learning, Play and Development in the Outdoors
Sustainable Use of Natural Resources
Outdoor Practical Skills
Assist at Forest School.
This qualification is ideal for those who would like a more in depth introductory course or who need more practical and academic experience in order to progress to the Level 3 – Certificate in Leading Forest School course.
This course offers plenty of opportunities to develop your own skills at Forest School in preparation for passing those on to others at a later date.
Completion of the Level 2 booklet takes place during the course and whilst assisting a Forest School Practitioner (Level 3 Trained) with planning and delivery of Forest School programmes.
For this reason you must ensure an established link with a Forest School Practitioner before attending this training.
Course duration – 4 days of training, plus assisting with planning and delivery of minimum of 3 Forest Schools Sessions. This is usually a minimum time commitment of 3 x half a day (course is completed within six months of start date).
Please note this course enables you to assist at Forest Schools, and does not qualify you to run Forest Schools Sessions.
